Glossary

MU acronyms and slang explained in plain words, for those just starting out.

How to use this glossary

MU has a lot of acronyms and slang. If someone said a word you didn't understand in chat or voice, look it up here. The terms are split by topic.

Classes and abbreviations

Each class has a short nickname. Players almost always use the abbreviation, not the full name.

TermWhat it is
DK / BKDark Knight and its evolution, the Blade Knight. The melee warrior: strong, tough and sword in hand.
DW / SMDark Wizard and its evolution, the Soul Master. The mage who attacks from a distance with spells and has low defense.
Elf / MEFairy Elf and its evolution, the Muse Elf. The archer who supports the group with buffs and also attacks from range.
MGMagic Gladiator. A hybrid class that uses sword and magic at the same time.
DLDark Lord. The commanding class: wields a scepter, hits hard and summons a pet mount.
ClassYour character's type. It defines the play style, the attributes and the skills.
EvolutionA class phase change, done by completing the class quests. The evolution makes your character stronger.

Events

Events are activities that happen at set times. Participants can earn rewards.

TermWhat it is
BCBlood Castle. An event where you guard a gate, destroy the barrier and carry an item to the end before time runs out. The group works together.
DSDevil Square. A monster arena where everyone fights for points. At the end, whoever scored the most gets the bigger reward.
CCChaos Castle. A player-versus-player battle in an arena that keeps shrinking. Last one standing wins.
ITIllusion Temple. A match between two teams where the goal is to grab the relic and carry it to the delivery point.
CSCastle Siege, the battle for the castle. It's the biggest war on the server: guilds fight to take over the castle. On MU Unit, it can also mean CS Character.
CrywolfEvent where everyone defends the map against a monster invasion.
Loren DeepDefense event on the Valley of Loren map. The team has to protect the spot against waves of monsters.
Event SquarePlaza where Blood Castle, Devil Square, Chaos Castle and Illusion Temple start. It is shared by all rooms. Go there with /move EventSquare.
BossA strong monster that appears at set times and maps and drops better rewards. The BOSS tab and the event schedule (/evento) show where it is and when it returns.
Sign of LordItem the guild hands in at the Castle Siege. Only the Alliance Master, Guild Masters and Staff can hand it in.
Switch CrownCastle Siege platform that whoever holds it controls during the war. The holder receives full crown time and the party near them receives half.
InvasionStrong monsters that show up unannounced on several maps. You can hunt them down, solo or in a group, to earn a reward.
Event timeEach event has its fixed schedule. Check the agenda in the events guide so you don't miss it.

Items

Items come in several quality levels. Knowing how to read an item's description helps you avoid trading gold for bronze.

TermWhat it is
Exc / ExcellentA rare item with a blue name and extra bonuses. It is much stronger than a regular item.
Anc / Set / AncientA special set piece. If you gather the pieces of the same set, you get extra bonuses.
+13An item that has been refined up to +13. The number after the + is the refine level.
Refining / UpgradeAn item upgrade done with jewels. The higher the refine level, the stronger the item.
Additional / OptionAn extra bonus the item can have, like more defense, more damage or more life. It usually shows up in red in the description.
LuckAn option that increases the success chance when refining and gives a chance of a critical hit on weapons.
SkillA skill that comes with the weapon or shield. Without it, the item doesn't unlock the attack or spell.
FullA character with all the pieces of the set, none missing. Also used for a full set.
DurabilityHow much the item can take before it breaks. Mounts and guard pets lose durability as they take damage (the Dark Raven, much more slowly). A broken Wizard Ring can be dropped on the ground and sold.
DropAn item dropped on the ground by a monster or an event.

Jewels

Jewels are the currency of exchange and the raw material of MU. Almost everything in the game goes through them, from refining to creating items.

TermWhat it is
BlessJewel of Bless. Used to refine items at the early levels and in several recipes.
SoulJewel of Soul. Used to refine items, but it can fail. It's the middle-tier jewel.
ChaosJewel of Chaos. Used in item combinations and special creations. Each recipe asks for its own amount.
LifeJewel of Life. Used to add an additional option bonus to items.
CreationJewel of Creation. Used in recipes that create special items.
GuardianJewel of Guardian. Used to reinforce more advanced items.
HarmonyJewel of Harmony. Gives the item an extra attribute bonus that isn't of the regular kind.

Each jewel has its own role, and recipes vary by item. Before spending a jewel, check what it's for in the items guide.
